Baby Goldfinch on my finger

You'll have to excuse the lack of sharpness, but in my excitement, I forgot to turn on the V/R (vibration reduction) not that I had a hand free to do so, nor did I think to fetch my tripod. I think using a camera must be like driving a standard car - in the beginning, you're constantly thinking clutch, gear shift, clutch, but soon you're driving smoothly without thinking about it. You are one with the car. I want to be one with my camera. But at the moment, I'm still thinking turn it on, focus, press V/R, focus....

This is my favorite picture of yours. I'm not really a bird person. They kinda creep me out -- thanks, Alfred Hitchcock! But this l'il guy can come sing outside me window any time!

That eye looks sharp to me... forget about VR... it's all about the moment! AS my background is journalism, my aim is to alway capture the moment without setting things up.

This is divine... LOVE it!!!

And yes, it IS a bit like driving a manual car - although even years after you learn, you can still look down and realise you forgot to put it into fourth gear, or take the park brake off! The joy is that you never really know EVERYTHING...

Aww, that is a wonderful pic, novelwoman. As the others asked, how did the little fellow happen to alight; what is the story? (and is Snow White your alter-ego?) Tell us, pretty please?

R.C,Well, I'm no Snow White but maybe there's a little Mrs. Doolittle in me? Check back over the summer. There will be more bird in the hand shots.(wink)

Nice picture, very sweet, however that is NOT a Gold Finch.

If it's not a baby American Goldfinch, which I have in abundance at the lake, then what is it?

The bird looks to be a warbler, not a finch. The necklace of black streaks on a yellow breast, faint white eye ring, and white wing bars all suggest a Magnolia Warbler.

Well I'll be darned, Nanny! I think you're right. Thanks!
