...and you tell me which you prefer. Note that I haven't retouched the actual colour at all, I just enhanced the highlights and shadows where I felt they needed a bit of a boost.

Color, no question. The colors in these shots are stunning, and the depth and texture revelations in the B/W pictures don't make up for the loss of the color.
Just here, though. :) These are gorgeous.
Yeah, I tend to agree with you. I have a few more tulip photos to post in a few days and then they're pretty much finished. The season is so short....
these are most striking in their full glory....
Oh the colour photos are gorgeous! Definitely the colour, in this case....
Hey where did my comment go? *hm*
What I said was, that the colour pics are sooo much better, although I still love the b/w tulips.
Ah, laughingwolf, I have to agree.
nbb, one of the photos disappeared so I had to edit and somehow your comment ended up in the ether. You must have commented within minutes of the post going up! Sorry about that.
Good God, Woman! I hope you are making some money off of this talent! Stunning! My favorite is the white one, but in color, for sure.
Color. Definitely color.
Definitely colour. I tend to like B&W more for people shots.
Still waiting to hear more details about your camera.
Bisous xo

The colour is ALIVE and vibrant... I am so jealous of your blooms and your talent and the crispness of these pics. No wonder you are shooting obsessed!!!
I'm a B&W fan but more often of people... flowers need the hues I reckon...

Thanks again for all your kind words. I just like sharing the pics! And the talent lies with the gardeners, my neighbour Kathy and her gardener helper Heather, my eldest daughter. I just do the fun part at the end - shoot a few pics, then sit and admire the blooms while Kathy shares a coffee with me.
And Laura, I put the details of my camera somewhere in the comments. I use a Nikon D200 with either my 18-200mm lens or my 105mm Nikkor macro lens. Love it, but the new Canon EOS are great cameras too. Email me if you want to know more.
Bisous! I'm off to the lake to check on the woodchucks!
Metod, that's exactly what I need to hear! Thank you for taking the time to comment and give honest critiques. I'm getting used to my macro and the whole depth of field thing. And actually, I think those flower photos were taken with my 18-200mm, no tripod while holding my breath, which made me dizzy but (hand dramatically held to my forehead) that's the price we pay for our art, no?
I LOVE cropping. I can do a really tight crop no problem, even cutting a flower in half. I also love lots of bokeh, which our club frowns upon. The judges always comment "there's too much bokeh!" but I like it. As one of my bokeh-loving friends said, quoting someone else, bokeh is just another arrow in the creative quiver. We're getting tee-shirts made that say "Support The Bokeh!"
Thanks again for commenting. Your opinion means a lot to me.
