It's Complicated. And I Can't Wait.

This is worse than having to wait until Christmas morning to open gifts.

Another 45 days until this movie opens. Le sigh. Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin, people! Together. In a Nancy Meyers film!

I love Nancy Meyers. She creates dialogue and believable, quirky, charming characters like no one else. Have you seen SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE with Diane Keaton and Jack Nicholson? I watched it again the other night even though it's exquisitely painful due to my deep, unrequited love for Erica Barry's kitchen. (It's more like kitchen lust. Actually to be honest I could run away with that whole house and have ten thousand of its babies, and please don't tell me it's just a movie set and it doesn't exist because I need my fantasies and these days, most of them involve that kitchen.)

Nancy writes about real women, women like me or at least, the kind of woman I'd like to be, one who writes successful plays and lives in a luscious house situated right on the ocean, beautifully decorated of course, with off-white furniture and tasteful art and no dust or pet hair anywhere and probably no rotting fruit in her fridge... but I digress. I adore Nancy Meyers and Meryl the Streep, and from the looks of this trailer, this movie is not going to disappoint.

I just have to make it until Christmas. While the family is cleaning up the last bits of turkey and gravy, this old broad is planning on hoofing it down to the Cineplex.

Oh - that sounds fab! You know I also have a massive crush on that house in Somethings Gotta Give... but not as much as my mother. She goes into a kind of trance when those scenes come on. Actually she tried a little of that style in the GG homestead. It's not bad.

PS PLease stop calling yourself an old broad. Disgraceful!

Ohhhh, that looks good. Come to Toronto and we'll see it here! By the way, when Lisa did my kitchen she designed it after the one in Something's Gotta Give. It's her favourite movie - she's watched it over and over. I didn't see the movie until after my kitchen was done and then realized it had a lot of the same elements. I wish my whole house looked like that though!

Come for Christmas, Julie! I'll make the turkey, you take me to the movie. We'll laugh, we'll cry, we'll burp...

BB, I can call myself an old broad, but heaven help anyone else who tries it. ;)

Yutha, I LOVE your kitchen. I could happily live in it, just tucked away in the corner in a dog bed....

Oh Hooray! This looks so awesome. I also love "Something's Gotta Give" which gets better every time I watch it. I mean, the scene when Jack Nicolson walks in on Diane Keaton and Keanu in the cafe in Paris???? Completely amazing.

Bises xo

I saw the previews for this movie during the summer - can't wait! Hey was that Ali Wentworth?? I like her too! Hey Yutha - I'll go with you!

Okay Brink, you're on!

And Pam, there's a doggy bed with your name on it in the corner - right beside Olivia's!

Brinkie, I KNOW. I love the Ali! Actually, I didn't know she was an actress. Maybe she's not. But I don't care. I love her.

Yutha, I changed my mind. I want a real bed please. And make sure your pool boy is around for drink orders.

Pam - done and done.

Really, I'm with BB~! the old broad stuff has to stop, woman. Okay. I've never seen Something's Got to Give, but I will have to watch it just to see the kitchen that everyone's going on about. And another thing? I kind of marvel over people who watch movies and notice things like that.

Debby, Debby, Debby....stop what you're doing and GO GET THAT MOVIE! Beg, borrow, rent or steal it, but get that movie, make yourself some popcorn and prepare to be swept away. And you can't help but notice the kitchen let alone the house in this movie. The house is practically another character!

I watched Something's Got to Give last night. Tim and I laughed so hard. What an entertaining movie. And yes. The kitchen is nice.
